INSTALLING A NEW SWITCH or CORD

The following instructions can be used to install a new switch or power cord in your power tool. The samples shown are for the installation in a power saw, but the basic steps are the same for most any power tool.

The first thing to do is UNPLUG THE TOOL! This may seem like a simple thing to do, but it is easy to forget. Believe me, many a dull afternoon has been livened up by the sight of one of our repairmen "lighting up" and  being thrown across the room due to this carelessness. So UNPLUG IT NOW!

Before removing the cord or switch, observe the routing of the wires through the handle. You will have to re-install the wires in the proper location or the handle cover may not close properly, or worse, you could insert a screw through a wire causing a short or an unsafe condition. 22.jpg (33866 bytes)

If installing a new cord, measure the wires using the old cord as a guide. Cut the wires the right length ( A little longer is better). Install the supplied eyelets on the wire & crimp in place. 28.jpg (14866 bytes)
24.jpg (25602 bytes) Replace the wires onto the switch in the original configuration.
Replace the switch into the handle. Re-route the wires. Check the switch for smooth operation. The wires should not hit or interfere with the trigger when pulled. Close the cover & replace the handle screws. Be sure the wires are clear of the mounting holes before inserting screws.

This completes the repair. Test the tool to make sure the trigger doesn't hang up when released, a very unsafe condition!
